Reaction: This one didn't miss out on profits by much, but it does result in a less than ideal season for writer Andrew Doster as both of his horror projects this season lost money.

"The film began with a powerful sense of ominous dread, but as it progressed, it devolved into a chaotic and bewildering mess. Despite some genuinely frightening moments, the characters were never developed enough for the audience to care about their survival. Furthermore, the conclusion left me feeling frustrated, not due to its content, but because I didn't have the sense to stop watching earlier." - Chet Buckley, MovieWeb

"There is some decent horror imagery in Red Riding Blood, with the film starting with a bang. After that though, things get more standard and the scares become stuff we've seen all too many times before. The end result is a mostly generic horror effort with a few flashes of creative genre elements." - Tim Givens, Lexington Ledger

"I thought that Mary Elizabeth Winstead had graduated from these types of films. I guess not. Her talent and name do lend a bit of legitimacy to the project. Unfortunately, the script fails to live up to the promise of its casting. The cold opening scene of the film really set a great tone for the flick, but as the story goes on it becomes less scary by the moment." - Michael Carthage, Associated Press

Rated R for bloody violence
