Reaction: Production costs were definitely higher than preferred given the genre (mostly due to the A-List cast), but we managed to eek out a box office success here. We're glad this one worked out, and hopefully it's not the last we see from writer James Morgan.
"I feel like I've seen this one before. This one felt a little too much like so many other undercover organized crime films like Donnie Brasco, which also featured Al Pacino as a mobster. Aside from the surprisingly nihilistic ending, there wasn't much I haven't seen on display (several times over)." - Josh Manning, NY Daily News
"While clearly beholden to the tropes of its genre, Mr. Big is a high quality production with strong performances from its cast, especially Cooper and Chastain. The film is also quite the return to form for director Kathryn Bigelow after the highly disappointing Detroit." - Mark
Plainsview, ReelViews
"I'm a sucker for organized crime movies, especially ones where a cop is undercover within their ranks. There's something about that set-up that just oozes tension in every scene. Mr. Big may not be the most original example of that familiar set-up, it executes it to near perfection." - Chris Price, Boston Herald
