Reaction: An all original animated film has become the highest grossing film of the season at its mid-way point by a large margin. That has to be a testament to family friendly fare that scored strong reviews.
"I admittedly had no clue what to expect going into this given that it seemed like such a drastic departure from the usual work of Lon Charles. Ultimately, I love a good 'a group of misfits putting on a show' type of movie and The Big Top. While parents might not get much out of it, the film delivers its fair share of wacky antics and heart-warming moments that should leave kids exiting the theater fully entertained." - Reggie Coscarelli, San Fernando Valley Sun
"The Big Top never overstays its welcome. It was the perfect length for a family film, telling its story with an energetic and brisk pace, leaving no extra and unnecessary meat on its bones. The voice cast all suit their roles well with Milo a very welcome return for Macaulay Culkin who brings a great 'gee whiz' charm to the character. I genuinely don't really have any complaints for The Big Top - it is exactly what a family film should be!" - Jason Helm, New York Observer
"While the visuals are colorful and bright, the rest of the movie is disappointingly predictable and lacks depth. The voice cast is competent, mostly sticking to familiar roles we've seen them play before, but this doesn't alleviate the strong sense of déjà vu I felt upon leaving the theater." - Edith Moss, Times (UK)
Rated PG for some mild peril and thematic elements
