Reaction: Numbers are close but slightly down for Tara's World compared to its predecessor, Tara's Web. That can probably be attributed to a slightly higher budget (mostly due to a raise for star Victoria Pedretti) and a weaker critical reception.
"While Victoria Pedretti once again brings intensity and sensuality to her character, Grant Gustin falls flat in the male lead opposite her. Jacob Jones' script does a decent job exploring the layers of power and seduction the story calls for, but the plotting becomes more complicated than it should at times, making for an ambitious yet flawed sequel." - Katie Barnes, Washington Herald
"Tara's World lacks the intrigue the first film had. In the acting department, Victoria Pedretti is once again quite good as the title character. But in the male lead department, Grant Gustin is a major, monumental step down from Jacob Elordi in the first film. Gustin has none of the edge or gravitas to pull off a role in a film like this. The story itself is a little less focused in this sequel, with lots of new characters and subplots offering little additional substance." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press
"Despite Victoria Pedretti's presence, this sequel fails to impress from the last one. The plot twists feel forced, the betrayals are melodramatic soap opera levels, and the excessive sex scenes can't compensate for the weak character development and cheesy storytelling. The convoluted ending adds to the disappointment, making this film a letdown overall. If this is Tara's world/web, I don't wanna live in it." - Rebecca Barazotto, Wired.com
Rated R for strong sexual content/nudity, language, and some violence
