The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 21 Round 9)

There is now just one round and three films left of the roller coaster that has been Season 21. Here's The Roundup....

3. Tom Hiddleston
I didn't care much for the story of Ziggy Stardust (more on that below), but Hiddleston was definitely the highlight as he appeared committed to the title role.

2. Billy Magnussen
I think it is safe to say that Billy Magnussen can be considered a bankable name in LRF by now. He's managed multiple hits unrelated to the Booster Gold series, and if the poster is any indication the studio leaned the marketing into his growing star presence.

1. Free Spirit
I appreciated Free Spirit a lot. Not because it was an amazing movie or made a lot of money. No, I appreciate it because Chad Taylor went out a wrote a movie that others in LRF aren't making - A live-action family film. The fare for the studio has always skewed mature, but the success of Free Spirit definitely shows that there is very much an audience for more family-oriented films as well.

3. N/A
It was a pretty good round for the studio, so I'll be nit-picking a bit below for the bottom two.

2. Ziggy Stardust
Honestly - and no disrespect to Meirad Tako - but I found his Ziggy Stardust film to be a bit on the boring side of things. It felt like he may have translated/adapted the songs a bit too literally at times, which didn't always result in the most fun interpretations.

1. Winter's Displeasure
The casting really threw me off on this one. Every resident of the retirement home felt too young to be there. Most of them haven't even gone gray! It was a missed opportunity to cast older, more geriatric actors (not current action stars like Neeson) that we don't get to see enough of.
