In Development

Winter's Displeasure: Katey Sagal (Bleed For This, "The Conners"), Bo Burnham (Promising Young Woman, Rough Night), Mary Steenburgen (Lock Every Door, Survivor) and Morena Baccarin (Aliens vs. Predator: The Long War, Halo: Reach) will round out the ensemble cast of the latest Nancy Meyer film, Winter's Displeasure. Sagal and Steenburgen will play residents of a retirement community, while Burnham will play an internet "sexpert" and Baccarin will play a real estate agent. The film was written by Eden Townsend.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: Robert Sheehan (L.A. Rex, X-Men) and Dominic Monaghan (Edge of the World, Radioflash) have joined the David Bowie album inspired film The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. They will play bandmates of the title rock star played by Tom Hiddleston in this David Fincher directed film. Meirad Tako wrote the script.

Free Spirit:
Sally Field (Excellent Women, Little Evil), Aaron Eckhart (American Dragon, Orchid) and Sunny Pawar (Lion, Love Sonia) have joined the supernatural family comedy Free Spirit. Field and Eckhart will play family members of the ghost played by Billy Magnussen, while Pawar will play a friend of the girl played by Brooklynn Prince. Chad Taylor wrote the film, which Pete Docter is making his live-action debut directing.

Rodeo: Arguably the biggest star in the universe, Tom Cruise (INFINITY, At the Mountains of Madness), has signed on to star in Rodeo from director Taylor Sheridan (Urban Cowboy, Of Rocks and Sand) and writer Dwight Gallo (At the Mountains of Madness, Cocaine Cowboys). He will play an over-the-hill bullrider on a tour through Texas who strikes up a romance with a young singer. Kate Mara (Paradiso, Dead Space) has beat out several other prominent actresses for the female lead role, an aspiring singer who joins the rodeo tour to escape her abusive husband.

Knievel: Actor and motorcycle enthusiast Taylor Kitsch (Justice League Unlimited, The Curse of Janara) has signed on to star in a biopic of legendary daredevil Evel Knievel. The film is expected to cover many of the highlights of Knievel's professional and personal lives. Kitsch will also be making his directorial debut on the project. The film was written by Matt Parker (The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, Sleeping Beauties) some time ago, but production was delayed until a director could be found - only for the film to wind up in the hands of its leading man.

Supergirl: After making a brief appearance in Superman: The Last Son of Krypton, Chloe Grace Moretz (Corndog, Fear of the Dark) is set to return for a feature adventure of her own as Supergirl. Also joining her from that second Superman film will be Sean Penn (The Tournament, Spawn 2: Payback) and Frances McDormand (Superman: The Last Son of Krypton, Haute Couture). Penn will be reprising his role as Supergirl's father, while McDormand is once again playing Superman's adoptive mother Martha Kent. The film will reportedly feature Supergirl getting used to life on Earth and protecting it from a Kryptonian threat while Superman is off-planet. Darren Aronofsky (The Little Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches, Shogun) has been hired to direct the film, which has been written by John Malone (Risico, Superman: The Last Son of Krypton).
