Reaction: Given the genre combination and the under-performance of Cruise's last film for the studio, INFINITY, the box office success of this film was never a sure thing. All that said, it ended up being the highest grossing original western film in the studio's history.

"Gallo and Sheridan have crafted an engrossing story that is held in capable hands by their actors. Tom Cruise delivers a subdued performance that is welcomed. Kate Mara excels in her role as Lucy, by far her best performance. The film at times feels slow, but I was able to overcome the slow parts as they still kept me engaged through terrific writing. Add in the soundtrack and you have yourself a winner." - Bridget Alexander, Empire Magazine

"Rodeo may not be as tightly-plotted as most of writer Dwight Gallo's best work for the studio, his script here may be his most emotionally involved and satisfying. The story and the performances from the perfectly selected cast truly make you feel and care for these characters. And that's no easy feat." - Glenn Howard, Total Film

"Tom Cruise gives one of his finer performances in Rodeo - and that's saying something, but Kate Mara almost steals the whole show from him with her vulnerable performance. The story may meander at times, but writer Dwight Gallo and director Taylor Sheridan clearly understand and love their characters in this one and it shows on the big screen." - Janelle Arbor, Vogue

Rated R for language, sexuality/nudity, some violence and drug/alcohol content
