Reaction: After releasing several bigger budget movies recently, we decided to make something a bit more modest in terms of budget this time around. It's a little trickier to market a movie that doesn't have flashy special effects or huge stunts, so we're very happy that people turned out to see it.

"Brad Anderson excels in movies that pit normal people up against something supernatural or incomprehensible. He's done it again here. Robert Pattinson also shows that he can bring the same level of performances he brings to his indie film work over to more mainstream projects." - Matthew Ellis, USA Today

"I was all on-board for a supernatural thriller about the lost Roanoke colony, until we get to see what is terrorizing them. It came across as far too hokey, like the ghost lepers in John Carpenter's The Fog." - Jon Farrell, Hollywood Reporter

"Roanoke starts out thrilling and mysterious, but as the film goes on it becomes more ridiculous and hard to watch. There is about 35 minutes of a good movie here. The problem is that there's another hour that doesn't really work." - Tim Greer, L.A. Weekly
