La Resistance: Mark Strong (Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Bunny Lake is Missing), Woody Harrelson (The Wolfman, The Hunt) and Charles Dance ("Game of Thrones", The Imitation Game) have signed on to round out the cast of the upcoming WWII drama from director Morten Tyldum and writer Mo Buck. Strong and Dance will play German officials working with Gary Oldman's character, while Harrelson will play a member of the local French resistance movement.
Mass Effect 2: Martin Sheen (Mass Effect: Cerberus, Rules Don't Apply) will reprise his role as The Illusive Man from Mass Effect: Cerberus in the upcoming Mass Effect 2 from writer Seth Overton and director Rian Johnson. Other new faces to the sequel will be Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave, Black Panther) and Simon Pegg (Hawkeye, Star Trek Beyond). Nyong'o is set to play Tali-Zorah, a skilled alien technician, while Pegg is set to play Mordin Solus, a fast-talking alien scientist.
Perfect Blue: Scoot McNairy (Booster Gold, "Godless"), Evan Peters (The Associate, X-Men: Apocalypse) and Justin Theroux (An Honest Mistake, The Prisoner) have joined the upcoming anime-adapted thriller Perfect Blue, starring Elle Fanning. McNairy will play part of Fanning's management team, Peters will play an over-zealous fan, while Theroux will play a famous photographer. Mark Pellington is set to direct the film based on a script by newcomer Roy Horne.
Girl/Girl: Grace Van Patten (Missoula, The Meyerowitz Stories) and Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049, Knock Knock) will star in the romantic drama Girl/Girl directed by Eliza Hittman (Beach Rats, It Felt Like Love), The film tells the story of a college student who gets involved in webcam modeling where she becomes enamored with one of the other models. Chad Taylor (Sinkhole, The Beatles) wrote the script.
Grand Theft Auto: Up and coming filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie (Good Time, Easy Money) are officially directing one of the year's most anticipated films: Grand Theft Auto. The project, written by Harry Wright (Lucky Luke and Calamity Jane, Nation's Pride), has lined up Oscar Isaac (An Honest Mistake, Dracula Lives) to play the lead role, while Jon Bernthal (Libra, The Job), Eric Bana (Special Correspondents, Lone Survivor) and Clive Owen (Halo, Green Arrow) have signed on to supporting roles. The film will be based on the video game Grand Theft Auto III.
Deprogramming: Antonio Campos (Mona Lisa, Simon Killer) has signed on to direct the upcoming drama Deprogramming from writer Lon Charles (The Life of the Party, Cat People). Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea, Triple 9), Jennifer Connelly (Only the Brave, Noah) and Tye Sheridan (Home Again, Ready Player One) will lead the cast. Affleck will play a cult specialist hired by Connelly to deprogram her son (Sheridan).
