"The Mortal Enemy could not be more different than the usual bug or animal starring animated films. While it's attempts at action and intrigue don't always work in the intended way, it is always interesting." - Brian Edelstein, Time Out
"The story keeps getting further and further away from our main heroes, while also getting tonally more bleak and dark - something that will surely surprise audiences in theaters. It's not a bad story, I just wouldn't recommend it." - Olive Carroll, Houston Chronicle
"The first film, while not necessarily a children's film, could be enjoyed by all ages. This film takes things to far darker thematic places that will probably alienate some of the audience that expected a story more like the first. It will be interesting to see if people stick around for the inevitable third entry." - Geoff Bray, Slant Magazine
