Reaction: There was probably no way to successfully market such an unmarketable story - we tried. It's probably no coincidence that our adaptation of Invisible Monsters was a gargantuan bomb at the box office - and no Chuck Palahniuk adaptation by any studio has made a profit on the box office (Fight Club, despite grossing over $100 million at the box office, would not have made a profit if not for very strong home video sales).
"Ryan Gosling gives a disturbingly funny performance in a dual role. He manages to play the weirdness of the characters just right, not too big and not too small." - Ken
Hammerschmidt, Washington Post
"Like much of novelist Chuck Palahniuk's work, it's arguably too weird to work on film. There is considerable talent on screen and behind the camera, but it never comes together as it should." - Perry Manson, CinemaBlend.com
"While marketed as a drama/thriller, Survivor is also secretly quite funny. Fincher's film has a real morbid sense of humor that unfortunately didn't catch on with audiences." - Mark
Plainsview, ReelViews
