Reaction: Ouch! The first bomb in the DC Comics Universe has finally happened - and it's a big one. The lack of bankable stars and/or well-known characters was clearly too much for even the DC brand to make up for in this case.

"Firestorm has a lot of interesting elements: the central concept of two people forming into one hero, an up-and-coming director, the college setting, and a supporting cast that is perhaps overqualified (Rylance, in particular, is a stand-out). The issues it runs into are that it goes on a bit too long and doesn't allow Tatro to play to his strengths as a comedic actor nearly enough." - Phil Silva, The Atlantic

"Firestorm, or at least the two characters that make up the hero, are not given much to do in this one - often feeling supporting characters in their own adventure. A new hero or villain seems to be introduced every few scenes, taking screen time away from the heroes. Vixen, from the same writing team, had a lot of the same issues (too many characters, not enough focus on the title hero, overly long)." - Henry Stewart, Chicago Sun-Times

"Writers H.G. Hansen and Jimmy Ellis try to do way too much with the script here. Too many characters, too many plot threads to carry on, all with not enough focus. I feel like we barely know the two titles character (Ronnie and Stein), and then all of a sudden characters like Killer Frost and Mr. Terrific are thrown at us without much warning. On top of that, the plot also feels vague at best for most of the film." - Ken Decker, Denver Post

Rated PG-13 for action violence and some suggestive material
