An Eye For An Eye: Hugo Weaving (Metamorpho, Cascade), Jon Bernthal (Death in the Shadows, B.R.I.G.A.N.D.S.) and Ciaran Hinds (Halo: The Fall of Reach, Gorky Park) have joined the cast of the new Brad Pitt-starring western film, An Eye For An Eye. The script was written by rookie writer Wyatt Allen. Acclaimed Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho is directing the project.
Dan Star: Olivia Thirlby (Above the Shadows, Damascus Cover), Kenan Thompson (The Hit Maker, "Kenan"), Halston Sage (Sunny Days, "Prodigal Son") and Maia Mitchell (The Last Summer, "Good Trouble") will join the Dave Chappelle-led standup comedy-themed film Dan Star. Thirlby will play Chappelle's wife, Thompson will play a fellow veteran comedian, Mitchell will play a groupie, while Sage will play a rising comedian. Richard Linklater is directing from a script by Alex Conn.
Cecil: Nicolas Winding Refn's new true story mystery film has added Chin Han (Skyscraper, Mortal Kombat), Joan Chen (Ava, Tigertail), Anna Gunn (Being Frank, Sully) and Danny Trejo (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto). Han and Chen will play the Chinese immigrant parents of a missing woman. Gunn will play a hotel manager while Trejo will play a maintenance worker. The film is based on a script by Roy Horne.
The Cry of the Night Lady: Lorenzo Balducci (Barabbas, In Search of Fellini) and Ray Abruzzo (The Nickel Boys, The Tournament) have joined controversial director Lars von Trier's LRF debut, The Cry of the Night Lady. Their roles are reportedly villainous in nature, but not much else is known. After a couple of fairly traditional films last season, this film will see writer Meirad Tako going back to his roots in more strange films.
Floyd Monroe: Jared Padalecki ("Walker", "Supernatural"), Liam Hemsworth (The Refugee, Unknown), Yvonne Strahovski (Task Force X, Visions) and Nonso Anozie (Artemis Fowl, The Laundromat) will round out the cast of director Sofia Coppola's latest film, the rock star drama Floyd Monroe. Padalecki is playing a former boyband member, Hemsworth is playing a male stripper, Anozie is playing a bodyguard, while Strahovski is playing the wife of Ethan Hawke's character. The film is based on a original script by Jacob Jones.
Klondike: The star trio of Chris Pine (McCain, Of Rocks and Sand), Elle Fanning (High School, The Letter J) and future James Bond Dan Stevens (Elysian, Before and After) have signed on to headline a new historical drama from director Sam Mendes (The Glass Menagerie, Revolution) and the writing duo of John Malone and Jimmy Ellis (Pulp, Lowell). Set during the Yukon Gold Rush, Pine will star as a prospector who heads up to the Yukon to try to strike it rich. Stevens will play a railroad executive trying to get a railroad built to a bustling gold town. Fanning has been cast as a young dancer who finds herself the object of affection from both men.
