Reaction:
Honestly, we were expecting bigger numbers from such a huge,
anticipated film. The budget did not help matters when it comes to
profit, but all-in-all, we are happy with the film and look forward to
future Batman adventures.
"While
the Gotham portrayed is very interesting and Gyllenhaal is surprisingly
good as the Dark Knight, the film suffers from villain overload to the
point that I wasn't even sure who the main villain was half the time." -
Dave Cone, New York Post
"Director
Joseph Kosinski paints a grimy, stylized portrait of Gotham city and
its residents. Gyllenhaal is good as Batman, but especially nails his
few scenes as Bruce Wayne." - Roger Taggart, Chicago Tribune
"Next
time I'd like to a see a lot more of Jake Gyllenhaal without the mask.
Caleb Landry Jones is an absolute marvel as a Joker that is completely
careless and anarchic, giving a performance loaded with enthusiastic
menace. He's a wonderful nuisance to practically every character in the
film." - Michael Wilmington, Rolling Stone
