Reaction: That hurts. Apparently there isn't much demand for Star Trek without big name actors or at least big name characters. Not even the high home media numbers could save the bottom line on this film. It is unclear what this means for the future of Trek here at Last Resort Films, but it probably isn't good.

"The magic that made John Malone-scripted films like Flicker and The Prisoner so great was definitely missing here. This was Star Trek without any of the wonder." - Chris Mears, Slashfilm

"The cast is talented, but the characters are mostly one-note and uninteresting. The script gets bogged down setting up the world instead of focusing on character development like JJ Abrams wisely did with his 2008 reboot. People come to Star Trek for the characters, not the special effects, and that seems to have been missed by director Rupert Wyatt and writer John Malone." - Allen Poole, AV Club

"Sure, the film has its definite problems, but there are so many good scenes, especially the opening action sequence, that it is certainly worth watching." - Sean Williamson, Toronto Star
