Splinter Cell: Conviction: Shortly before its release, it has been announced that Gustaf Skarsgard ("Vikings", "Westworld"), Michael Beach (Captain Atom, If Beale Street Could Talk), Jennifer Ehle (Vox Lux, Fifty Shades Freed), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (BlacKkKlansman, The Old Man & the Gun) and Mike O'Malley (Sully, Concussion) will round out the cast of the latest entry in the Splinter Cell film series. Jose Padilha directs from a script by D.R. Cobb.
Jersey Devil: The upcoming monster film from director Kevin Smith and writer Clive Steinbeck has added Haley Joel Osment (Entourage, Yoga Hosers), Lauren Ambrose (Sleepwalk with Me, Wanderlust), Gretchen Mol (To the Moon, "Nightflyers") and Justin Long (And Then I Go, Frank & Lola). Osment will play the son of John Goodman's preacher, Ambrose will play a circus performer, Mol will play the Jersey Devil's purported mother Mrs. Leeds, and Long will play Christopher Walken's assistant.
Nexus: Natalie Dormer (Road Rash, Booster Gold II: The Booster Gold Story), Rob Gronkowski (American Violence, You Can't Have It) and Daniel Kaluuya (Mandingos, Alien: Isolation) have joined Guillermo del Toro's latest sci-fi film, Nexus, from writers Jacob Jones and Mo Buck.
An Ember in the Ashes: Cassidy Gifford (Caged No More, The Gallows), Jeremy Sumpter (Dark Ascension, Into the Storm), Kate Winslet (The Squared Circle, Revolution), Robert Carlyle ("Once Upon a Time", T2 Trainspotting) and Blake Michael ("Dog with a Blog", Mostly Ghostly: One Night in Doom House) have joined the latest YA-adaptation, An Ember in the Ashes, from director Patty Jenkins and writer Willem Mainwright.
Kite: Nicolas Winding Refn (Crowley, The Question: The End) has lined up his next project for the studio, an adaptation of the anime A Kite, written by Roy Horne (Gargoyles, The Tower). Mackenzie Foy (Asylum, Made in Abyss) will star as a teenage girl kidnapped and trained to be an assassin by a character played by Russell Crowe (Skyrim, Scion). Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Every Day) has also joined the film as another young assassin.
The Host: Young star Timothee Chalamet (Maximum Max, Hippies in New York) and Joaquin Phoenix (Trip, The Carpet Makers) have signed on the star in Yorgo Lanthimos' (The Death of the Honest Man, The Favourite) latest film, The Host, an eerie horror story from writer Alex Conn (Life of a Champion Part 2, Hippies in New York). Chalamet will play a high schooler chosen to go on a trip to meet the founder of a powerful tech company, played by Phoenix.
