The elderly couple behind the wheel lets the frantic Sally in and drive her to the hospital. The hulking, hockey-masked Jason Voorhees (Daniel Cudmore) watches as the RV's tail lights fade into the distance. Sally passes out from exhaustion by the time they reach the hospital. When Sally wakes up, she finds County Sheriff Wilson (Robert Wisdom) waiting to ask her some questions.

One Week Earlier...
Nate (Ethan Cutkosky) and Barry (Jacob Batalan) arrive at a small diner and ask for directions to Camp Crystal Lake since their map app on their phones isn't working around there. The locals in the diner ignore the two young men completely. Nate and Barry shrug at each other and decide to guess their way to the camp.

At Camp Crystal Lake, a group of young men and women begin arriving to work as junior counselors at the official re-opening of the summer camp. The new owner of the camp, Trevor (Topher Grace), looks over the group: Sally, Nate, Barry, Rex (Cody Christian), Sasha (Madelyn Cline), Brian (Joel Courtney), Deshawn (Khylin Rhambo) and Alisha (Madison Pettis). He introduces them to the senior counselor Mike (Matthew Daddario), who will be their immediate supervisor for the duration of the summer. Trevor starts talking about the negative, and frankly bloody, reputation the camp has garnered over the years due to the infamous serial killer massacres from the masked murderer Jason Voorhees. He says that past owners tried to shy away from that reputation, which is why they all failed. He plans to lean into the reputation and use the camp's history as a marketing ploy, showing them a t-shirt reading "I SURVIVED CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE".  After he has made introductions for everyone, Trevor drives off in his BMW, leaving Mike in charge. He tells them that the first task for everyone will be to go around and clean out all of the old cabins of cobwebs, debris and critters.

After an afternoon of hard work, the gang goes to the lake to relax. While aboard a wooden raft, Mike tells everyone the story of Jason Voorhees. Many years prior, Pamela Voorhees was a single mother who was hired to cook at the summer camp. She brought her young handicapped son, Jason, along with her. One day the counselors were too busy making out and partying and didn't watch Jason as he fell into the lake and drowned. Brian eagerly asks what happened next while the rest of the group is only half listening. Mike continues the story. Pamela got her revenge by killing all of the counselors one by one years later. Only one girl, Alice Hardy, survived by killing and beheading Pamela Voorhees. Deshawn interrupts the story, saying it all sounds fake. Brian says that he read briefly about it on Wikipedia, so it must be real. Mike then says that Jason turned out to be alive and now was a behemoth who began killing anyone who would come to the camp. Brian asks what ever happened to Alice Hardy. Mike says in a spooky voice that nobody ever heard from her after that summer. Bored of the story, Sally dives off of the raft to go for a swim in the lake. Sally is suddenly dragged under the surface of the water where she sees dozens of mutilated bodies at the bottom of the lake pulling her down. She begins thrashing about. Mike notices this and quickly dives into the water to save her from drowning. When she tells them what she saw, Rex and Brian dive into the water to get a look, but they don't see any bodies.

That night, Deshawn and Alisha are having sex in their cabin. Alisha notices Nate and Barry spying on her and pushes Deshawn off and covers herself with a blanket. Deshawn chases after them while still naked. Nate and Barry reach the campfire at the center of camp where the other counselors are before Deshawn can catch them. Mike stops Deshawn from attacking them and tells him to put some clothes on. Mike then goes to check on Sally. He tries to subtly flirt with her in the process, but she tells him she is not interested. Nate and Barry smoke a joint on the raft that night. Suddenly Jason Voorhees jumps out of the lake and stabs both of them with a machete. He then dumps the bodies into the water.

In the morning, Mike goes around waking up all of the junior counselors for a headcount only to find that Nate and Barry are missing. He gives everyone an assignment, except for Sally, who he asks to join him to search for Nate and Barry. Mike and Sally drive down the road to look for the two stoners. Sally finds a hockey mask on the floor and questions Mike about it. He insists it is just a costume mask Trevor gave him to help promote the camp's infamous past. Back at the camp, the guys are patching up the roof of a cabin. Deshawn begins picking on Brian. When Brian stands up for himself, Deshawn flies into a rage and attacks Brian and nearly knocks him off the roof. Rex jumps in to break up the fight, but they all fall off into a pile of old leaves. Sasha and Alisha hear the commotion and help Rex break up the fight. While driving, Mike and Sally's truck gets a flat tire. As Mike begins changing the tire, a torrential summer rain storm begins. Sally falls asleep in the truck. Jason emerges and rips the tire iron from Mike's hands and begins bashing him in the face with it. He drags Mike's body beneath the bare wheel of the truck and lowers the jack, causing the wheel to crush Mike's skull. Sally wakes up and sees Jason standing in the rain holding the bloody tire iron. Sally screams and starts running back toward the camp.

When Sally finally makes it back, she bursts into the office and tells everyone that Mike is dead. They don't believe her though when she says that Jason Voorhees killed Mike as they believe he's only an urban legend. Even Brian has a hard time believing Sally's story since Jason would be an old man by now according to the timeline of the stories. Rex goes out to his car to get his phone, but instead he finds the severed heads of Nate and Barry. Rex runs back into the office and tells the others what he found. The counselors decide to barricade themselves in the office until they can figure out how to get help. The rest of the group all check their phones, but none of them get a signal at the camp.

The group realizes that Brian isn't in the office with them. Rex decides to leave again to find him. He runs straight for Brian's cabin and warns him about what is going on. Brian doesn't want to go to the office though if that asshole Deshawn is there. Rex gives up and runs back to the office. Sally tells the others that she needs her medication which is still in her cabin. Deshawn, Sasha and Alisha try to keep her inside, but Sally leaves. When she gets to her cabin she finds that somebody has taken her meds, dumped them in the toilet and pissed all over them. Sally starts trying to fish them out. Jason appears behind her and slashes at her with his machete. Sally picks up the toilet tank lid and bashes him in the head with it. Jason stumbles back. Sally hits him again, knocking him to the ground. She keeps bashing with the toilet lid until the lid shatters. Sally removes Jason's mask and lets out a gasp when she discovers that it was Brian wearing the mask. She takes off her clothes that are covered in Brian's blood and turns to leave, only to slip in his blood and hit head on the toilet. The real Jason Voorhees then emerges and carries Sally out of the cabin.

Trevor tries calling Mike, but he doesn't get any answer so he decides to drive down to the camp to get an update on how the camp is looking. When he arrives, the counselors tell him that Mike has been killed and that a masked murderer is somewhere in the camp. Trevor is excited by their behavior and suggests they act like this once they get some customers too, it'll make the place a hit. To prove their story, Rex shows Trevor the inside of his car, where the heads of Nate and Barry still are. Trevor is suddenly hit in the throat by an arrow. Rex runs back into the office before he can be hit by one. Sasha looks out the window as Jason appears and punches through the office window. He grabs her head and slams it down onto the broken window, severing her head clean off. He then throws Sasha's head into the building toward the others who scream as her head rolls toward them. Rex, Deshawn and Alisha decide that they have to get out of the building before Jason enters. They climb out a back window and start heading toward Rex's car, but Jason emerges and cuts Rex in half with one machete swing. Deshawn and Alisha run away. Sally wakes up inside of a cabin surrounded by dead bodies. She looks around until she finds an old rusty machete. She then leaves the cabin.

Deshawn and Alisha finally make it to the road where they find Mike's truck. Deshawn starts working to fix the tire. Alisha tells him to hurry up, but before she can turn back around she is disemboweled by Jason. Deshawn asks Alisha if Jason is coming yet while he keeps working on the tire. Jason throws Alisha's guts and intestines at Deshawn. He begins screaming at the carnage until Jason kills him by snapping his neck.

Sheriff Wilson then chimes in and calmly tells Sally that he doesn't believe her story. He tells her that he did a check on her background while she was unconscious and learned that she has bi-polar disorder and depression and apparently hasn't been taking her prescribed medication. Sally insists that she was taking her pills. Wilson then asks about her high school sweetheart who died in a mysterious one car accident. When she proclaims her innocence, Wilson begins to get angry. He yells that she won't escape justice this time, not in his county. Jason then bursts into the room, having slaughtered his way through the entire small town hospital staff. Wilson pulls out his gun and empties his clip into Jason's chest. Jason collapses on the floor. Wilson announces that the man is dead and Sally should now come down to the station with him. Sally takes Wilson's keys and starts running though as Jason gets back up and cuts Wilson's hand off. Wilson screams as blood shoots out of where his hand used to be. Jason then slices his head off to end the screaming. Sally fumbles with the keys as she tries to get into Sheriff Wilson's police car. Just as she gets the door unlocked, Jason grabs her by the hair and drags her into the darkness as she kicks and screams for help.

Six Months Later...
A real estate agent (Lin Shaye) is showing a prospective buyer (Tom Savini) around the Camp Crystal Lake property. The buyer is very happy with the land and the heavily discounted price. She worriedly asks him if he plans on reopening the summer camp like the last owner. He laughs and tells her that his company plans on tearing everything down and building a first-class resort on the property. The real estate agent says that sounds nice, and the town could certainly use the boost to the economy. They make their way out onto the docks over the lake when buyer then points out something in the water - the decaying body of Sally Thomas. The buyer pulls out his phone to call the police, when he is shot through the eye with an arrow. The real estate agent begins panicking and screaming. Jason then emerges at the start of the dock, trapping the real estate agent. He throws his dagger at her, which stabs her directly in the face. Her body then falls into the lake as the water around turns dark red from her blood.
