Reaction: After two previous flops this round for the studio, this Red Sonja sequel performing well financially was certainly more than welcome (and needed as the accountants are starting to get worried about the numbers for this season).
"Red Sonja Blood + Bone lives to its name as an enjoyable violent fantasy action one would hope from the first one with making Karen Gillan more of a female action icon. Her love scene with Rodrigo Santoro is something worth noting as a top scene. The story isn't anything new but overall it's enough to make you wanna see Gillan's Red Sonja continue on further adventures." - Marcia Reed, Slant Magazine
"This film was clearly hampered by the absence of Zach McGowan's Conan in a major capacity. Surrounding Sonja with an ensemble to help fill in that loss was a smart idea, but aside from Kalidor/Kull, the motley crew that the filmmakers assembled were not particularly interesting or entertaining. Michael Wincott's villain was also not nearly as strong or sinister of a presence as Milla Jovovich in the first film." - Chrissy Lane, Manhattan Mercury
"Red Sonja: Blood + Bone is a well made film but I don't know if I will ever watch it again. While having a nice story and all, it fell flat to me. Karen Gillan was amazing as a stone cold woman looking to fill the void. The new set of characters while well acted were just there, the monastery scene was there to characterize them but I think it needed more. I would have liked to see Conan a little bit more." - Cal Crowe, Washington Globe
