Reaction: Alex Conn's directorial efforts continue to struggle at the box office. This was his 5th film as a director and the fourth to lose money for the studio (only his first directorial effort, The Virgin Suicides, managed to earn a small profit).

"Once Upon a Time in Greenwich Village is a vastly more coherent story than other recent Alex Conn projects, but that doesn't help make the characters likable. They felt like equally pretentious cohorts of Conn's characters from Hippies in New York." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press

"As a film-goer, I don't care about what books characters read, what movies they watch, what music or podcasts they listen to, what chain restaurants they eat at, or what their social media profiles look like. That's about all the personality the characters in Once Upon a Time in Greenwich Village have. The interactions between the characters actually worked well though, even if the characters themselves didn't. " - Jeff Stockton, The Roundup

"Gonna start to say I didn't care for how this all fails to go for the throat with necessary melodrama as it only would have improved it all. It's like watching someone run in circles and explain why they did so without reaching a destination. Alex Conn please hear me when I say this had all the potential in the world as it had characters that'd make it something interesting about friends loving one another and how their actions affect one another but mostly why it's frustrating when they don't. It ends too cleanly without anything for anyone to discuss about it." - Jessie Wicke, Voxxx
