Season 1 Episode 7 - Hard Virtue

Plot: Simon (Charlie Tahan) sets fire to Sally's car. He sits and watches it burn. Nathan (Moises Arias) then comes out of the community center and asks what happened while he was napping. Simon asks if Nathan has been in the community center all along. Nathan says of course, he lives in the spare closet. Simon begins to panic that Nathan must know what happened, but Nathan genuinely doesn't know what is going on. Simon then tells Nathan that some crack heads must have set fire to Sally's car. Nathan laughs at the thought, joking that crack heads always find new ways of surprising everyone.

In the morning, Kelly (Jaylen Barron), Alisha (Odeya Rush) and Curtis (Jonathan Daviss) all arrive at the center for their community service. The misfits being discussing where she could be. Nathan mentions that crack heads set her car on fire the night before, so maybe she is running late or simply decided to stay out of that neighborhood going forward. The gang begin discussing other things, but then Nathan excitedly interrupts that maybe Sally is dead just like Tony. Simon excuses himself and goes to the industrial freezer where he apologizes to Sally's frozen body.

The misfits all go outside to smoke when they notice that all the other teenagers and young adults that hang around the area are all dressed super preppy and nobody else in the entire area is smoking. They then watch as all the preppy-dressed young people sit in the grass and begin listening to Rachel (Stefanie Scott). She gives them all fliers for her Virtue organization to hand out around the area, and they all promptly do as she says. She notices the misfits and personally invites them to come to their next meeting, which will be inside the community center. She specifically looks at Curtis and Alisha when inviting them.

Nathan spies on the Virtue meeting during and begins to suspect that Rachel has the power of suggestion when Curtis and Alisha arrive at the meeting in preppy clothes. Nathan tells Simon and Kelly that Curtis and Alisha have joined Rachel's Virtue cult. They begin discussing how to save their friends from Rachel's brainwashing. Simon mumbles that she can't brainwash them if they can't hear what she is saying. Nathan puts on his headphones and turns the music on them up to full blast. He then loudly asks them to say something to him. Kelly calls Nathan a "piece of shit". Nathan yells that he couldn't hear anything at all, but that he can read lips and wishes Kelly hadn't called him a "niece of Schmidt" - he's a boy, so he'd be a "nephew of Schmidt".
