Writer: Mo Buck
Season 1 Episode 2 - Bolt
Cast:

Eric Stonestreet .... Buddy (Regular)
Maude Apatow .... Julie (Regular)
Randy Havens .... Timothy (Regular)
Crispin Glover .... Judge Ross (Regular)
Eugene Levy .... Donald the Narrator (voice) (Regular)
Martin Sheen .... Marty (Guest)
Plot: We open with an in-memoriam segment, narrated by Donald (Eugene Levy), for the long-time champion Marty who passed away a couple of days ago in suspicious circumstances. It covers everything from his biggest wins, to his arrest for cocaine trafficking and is love for the ladies. He lived the fast and furious life of a GRL superstar and it looks like he paid the price. It also features short interviews from everyone who accepted to take part in the documentary, telling their best memories of Marty, but they all hated the man, so it feels forced, except from Julie (Maude Apatow), who’s bawling because she lost her mentor. The in-memoriam ends with Judge Ross (Crispin Glover) accepting to take part of the documentary if it helps catching the killer of the respected competitor that was Marty.
The following day, everyone is back at track for the first race of the season. Sylvia (Catherine O’Hara) makes a grand entrance, even if nobody cares. Her dog is dressed from head-to-toe with a bejeweled jumpsuit and she reaches over to Donald for an interview, saying that she will dominate the season now that Marty is out of the picture and she’s all smile. Buddy (Eric Stonestreet) comes over and says you shouldn’t celebrate the death of a man. She says he hated him as much as she did, because he refused to show up to his stupid barbecue year after year. Buddy gets uncomfortable, but still plugs that his barbecue is a month away now and that Donald is invited with his camera of course. Donald hyperventilates behind the camera, as he’s too happy to have received an invitation.
Heads turn Julie arrives at the track accompanied by Bolt, Marty’s famous greyhound, which interrupts Buddy’s interview and insinuates that she must have been sleeping with Marty to get his dog, that’s the only way. In an interview, Julie is offended people think that. She says she inherited the dog because she was always kind to Marty, unlike everyone else. It’s crazy what you can achieve with a little kindness. Timothy (Randy Havens) is sad because Marty was supposed to give him the dog and he continues to struggle to control his dog.
Before the race start, Judge Ross tells everyone and the record-crowd (56 tickets were sold) that there will be a full scale investigation regarding Marty’s death and they can expect the police to get interviewed sometimes soon. He then announces the season officially underway and the competitors place their dogs in the starting blocks. You can feel the tension in the air before the race starts and everyone is nervous. Bolt easily wins the race, giving Julie her very first GRL win. She’s ecstatic and gives a heartfelt interview to Donald, dedicating her victory to Marty. Timothy is mad at his dog for not even getting out of the starting block, but he still can’t control it.
A quick montage shows Julie winning the next two races, to everyone’s frustration. Timothy shows little improvement with his dog, while Buddy is just happy to be there. Sylvia is Julie’s biggest competitor and shows up at every track with her trademark panache and it’s more over the top each time. She says to the camera that she’ll struggle to come up with new ideas if she keeps this up.
