Plot: An old-school sports car pulls up at the track and it attracts the attention of Donald (Eugene Levy) behind the camera. Out comes Dave (David Spade), the local greyhound racing star with his flurry of fans. He identifies as the bad boy of greyhound racing and doesn’t play by the rules. He goes up to Judge Ross (Crispin Glover)’ tent to sign up and they share a hug. Timothy (Randy Havens) says that he has never seen Ross be friendly with anybody but Dave. Oh, what he would give to have that much power. The interview is cut short by Timothy’s dog running away. As Dave exits Ross’ tent, he whistles at Julie (Maude Apatow), the woman to beat at the time. He wants to add a bet to leave that she must agree to a date with him if he wins, but she told him to beat it himself. Julie adds in an interview that Dave is disgusting and she has heard all the rumors about him. She wouldn’t mind someone older than her, but she wants nothing to do with Dave. Sylvia (Catherine O’Hara) is enamored who gives her a lot of attention and doesn’t miss an occasion to put his hand on her bottom. Buddy (Eric Stonestreet) keeps trying to make friends with him, but Dave wants nothing to do with him, which saddens Buddy, who just wants to make a friend in the league.
Before the race starts, Judge Ross is visited by Inspector Collins (Ben Schwartz) who’s in charge of Marty’s murder investigation. He says he believes that Marty’s death was an inside job and he wants to interview all the entrants. Donald, who was trying to sneak film the encounter, is spotted by Collins who chases him around the track. He finally catches up to him and asks him what he’s doing. Donald explains the documentary and Collins can’t believe how boring this all sounds, but he’s going to have to hand over all the footage for the investigation. Donald reluctantly accept after Collins promises him he won’t leak anything, but anyway who would want to watch that, it all sounds so incredibly boring.
The race itself is uneventful, only worth noting that Dave ends up winning it. He then asks Julie one last time if she changes her mind and she calls him a pig. He shrugs it off and then goes over to Ross’ tent and he’s seen giving him a wad of cash. They shake hands and Dave drives off as fast as he arrived.
Following the race, Inspector Collins uses unconventional methods to interview all the participants. Sylvia fakes tears, especially when she notices Donald sneakily filming. She says she loved Marty, they’ve known each other for years. Buddy says that Marty used to be a good friend with him and he was saddened when he learned of his passing. When Collins asks him why he didn’t go to his funerals, Buddy can’t give a straight answer. Julie starts bawling as soon as Collins started asking questions, saying she used to see him a grandfather and would never hurt. She gets mad when Collins insinuates that they might have been having an affair. Collins doesn’t appear to know much about Timothy who gets visibly nervous at the questions and can’t come up with an alibi around the time of the murders, something Collins finds very interesting…
