Plot: After Christmas, the school takes a brief winter break. Some families return home to see their relatives in the States. The Gentries are one that stay behind, however, given Vern’s responsibilities. This slightly annoys Buzz as it gives him a distinct conundrum. He’s an avid fan of the New York Giants, who are set to play in the NFL Championship Game against the Baltimore Colts tomorrow but he has no way to follow along. To make matters worse, the game starts in the middle of the night in Korea. He considers calling his friend Stevie for updates but that would cost a fortune.
Dennis (Mitchell Hoog) has no rooting interest in the matter but he’s a sports fan so he’s willing to help his friend find a way to listen. He asks Jane (Maddie Ziegler) for any ideas and she says this is kind of silly, can’t they just find out the score later? He says where’s the joy in that. She tells him that Peter McMichael’s from Baltimore so maybe he would know.
Dennis meets up with Buzz and tells him they should get in touch with Peter. Buzz doesn’t want to but begrudgingly agrees. They visit Peter (Milo Manheim) and, unsurprisingly, he is unaware of who Buzz even is. They find out that Peter is indeed a Colts fan so he’s willing to help their search.
Waiting until their respective parents are surely asleep, the trio sneak out into the night. Their first stop is the communications center on base to see if they can get any help from the news desk. However, they’re of no help as they’ll only receive news once the game has ended since most of the base is asleep at the moment.
On their trek, they jokingly argue about sports before beginning to ask about each other’s lives. As a result, Peter is demystified to Buzz along the way. One thing Peter asks is what’s the worst thing either of them have done. He and Buzz have pretty innocuous answers but Dennis says he’s been a bit of a troublemaker in his past. He declines to go into much further detail, though.
As the hours between late night and early morning dwindle away, they begin to feel like they’re running out of hope. They do, however, run into a couple of drunk soldiers on their way somewhere. The soldiers take the trio under their wing and invite them to a late-night drag race happening nearby. While it might not have been their original goal, they happily tag along.
The atmosphere at the drag race is raucous and Buzz finds it invigorating. They are offered alcohol from the older soldiers. Dennis and Peter partake but Buzz is hesitant, saying he’s never drank before. The soldiers promise they’ll take good care of him. A good time is had before the soldiers must return to their barracks in time for reverie.
Drunker than they’ve ever been, the trio stumble back towards their homes now that they’ve missed the game. They speculate how it must’ve gone. As they do, Peter hears something that sounds like a sports broadcast. They get closer to the home and realize it belongs to Principal Sparks (Larry Miller), who is enjoying morning coffee as he listens to the NFL Championship Game—now in sudden death overtime. The trio hunker down in some hedges outside and listen as the Colts dramatically drive down the field and win.
Buzz is disappointed that his team lost but he can’t help but smile at the adventure he just went on.
