It’s another fine day in Oakwood Elementary and Marcie (Miriam Spumpkin), Anna (Mykal-Michelle Harris), and Pablo (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) are sharing drawings of their favorite animals. Marcie’s favorite animal is a dolphin, while Anna’s favorite is the chameleon. As for Pablo? He’s got a greater love. The tiger! When the bell rings, the three friends go off to recess where the three play tag, Pablo pretending to be a tiger. Barney comes to life around this time and becomes awestruck by how similar Pablo is to an actual tiger.
Once their game is done, however, a wild occurrence ensues when a chihuahua comes into the school playground. Pablo goes into a panic and bumps into his big sister Gabi (Alejandra Howard). In hysterics, Pablo tries to explain what just happened when the dog owner comes in and apologizes for the mishap, saying that her dog got away from her leech and ran away. Still startled, Gabi helps Pablo back inside the classroom. All alone, Pablo begins to think about what happened, realizing that a lot of people paid attention to him when the dog came up to him and hatches a scheme.
Throughout the day, Pablo constantly calls out for help, saying that a dog is coming after him. First, it’s a pitbull, then it’s a rottweiler, finally, it’s a german shepherd. But when he tries it a fourth time, Pablo finds that nobody is coming to his aid. Confused, he heads outside and finds that everyone is ignoring him. When Pablo tries to explain that there’s a Great Dane in the classroom, Marcie and Anna call him on it, considering it yet another lie. Dejected, Pablo heads into the classroom. Concerned, Barney and Gabi follow him and ask him what’s wrong. Pablo sadly explains that he only did the dog bit because he liked the attention and he didn’t want to tell them that he’s afraid of dogs, claiming to have been bit by one in the arm. It’s there Barney tells Pablo the story of the Boy who Cried Wolf, a story about a boy who lied about a wolf only for it to come back to bite him when there was one. The moral of the story? It’s better, to be honest, the first time rather than keep a lie going.
Pablo comes out of the classroom with Gabi and Barney and apologizes to Marcie and Anna for his antics, admitting to his fear of dogs. Marcie and Anna forgive him, Marcie noting that it’s funny Pablo mention it cause her parents are bringing their dog over when they come to pick her and Matthew (Roger Dale Floyd up). The two agree to meet up with Marcie’s pet dog soon. In the meantime, the four friends play together for the rest of recess. As everyone heads inside, Barney and Mr. Roberts almost meet up for the first time, only for Gabi to realize what might happen and force Barney to hide in a locker until class ends.
After school, Anna, Gabi, and Pablo meet up with Marcie and Matthew’s parents, and Pablo is introduced to their pet dog Bingo. Despite being nervous at first, Pablo gingerly extends a hand to Bingo and manages to pet him. With his fear of dogs now conquered, Barney tells Pablo how proud they are of him for being brave and honest and that both are traits for being a great friend, sort of like a dog. Afterward, the kids head off for the afternoon, Barney now back to being a plush doll and on top of a locker.
