In school, Mr. Roberts (Robert Sweatmon) is busy teaching the kids about newspapers, the first way people could gather information about life at home and the world. The kids immediately become enthralled with the history of the press, fax and how newspaper are created (along with all the sections that comes with it) and during recess, with the help of Barney (Dean Wendt) all come together to create their very own newspaper, The Daily Friend! Each person comes up with their own ideas for their section. Matthew (Roger Dale Floyd) handles the sports, Marcie (Miriam Spumpkin) and Kairi (Sasaki Miyu) work together to make some comics, including one featuring B.J (Patty Wirtz) as his superhero alter-ego Captain Pickles, Gabi (Alejandra Howard) gives kids advice in her own column, Anna (Mykal-Michelle Harris) gives the sports, at least the ones she thought about inher mind, Pablo (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) attempts to tell the weather (which immediately backfires), even Baby Bop (Julie Johnson) gets in on the fun by writing a long essay about how great her blankie is. And D.J (Brayden Newbern), well, D.J. doesn't know. There's so many things he could do for the newspaper, but he isn't sure which one is best for him. All throughout the day, Barney helps D.J. find something for him to do on the newspaper, but as the day comes to an end, D.J cracks this joke about his situation: "Time went so fast, it was like the clock flew". Amused by his pun, D.J. realizes that he can put his comedic talents to good use and works on his section: "D.J's Daily Jokes"! Now everyone has a place in the newspaper, including Barney who puts the most important words of all in the newspaper. "I Love You".
