The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 24 Round 6)

One hit helped make up for two flops in the 6th Round of Season 24. Here's The Roundup....

3. Pocahontas
It was nice to have a new film from writer Walter McKnight. This one sticks pretty close to the animated film with some more realistic touches replacing the fantastical ones. It should have a little something for everyone in the family.

2. E.P.
I had a couple of major problems with this film that kept it from being a great film (and the length isn't one of them). That said, it felt like the most mature film from writer Jacob Jones to date and he managed to land himself a stellar cast.

1. Everything Will Be Alright
Wyatt Russell proves he has movie star potential with his starring role in Chad Taylor's latest directorial effort. The film is filled with good performances that help make up for moments where the story stalls out.

3. N/A

2. E.P.
E.P. is a solid story and Jacob Jones has improved dramatically as a writer over the seasons, but I did have some major problems with E.P. that kept it from being a great film, keeping it at merely decent to good. Frequently throughout EP, the story shifts away from characters that are actually interesting, shifting to the characters played by Parris and Rodriguez (and Wyner to a lesser extent) who are not nearly as interesting as the other characters. Then when Parris is announced as the new host of the show in the end, it felt like a let-down since after all the drama of the story, the winner of the gig is a character that is not in the least bit interesting.

1. Box Office
Another round where 2/3 films lost money. Thankfully Pocahontas was quite financially successful, helping to make up for the flops of Everything Will Be Alright and E.P.
