Reaction: Queen Margot has become the biggest box office bomb for the studio in some time. Why? Historical films are expensive, the cast was expensive, and the perhaps the subject matter didn't appeal to the masses.

"I wasn't looking forward to this, but hand-to-God glad I watched this. Director Chloe Zhao redeems herself from He Kills and commands the best from every single cast member here. The story may be unbalanced at parts but overall, I enjoyed myself. Totally worth checking out if you got the time." - Jessie Wicke, Voxxx

"Queen Margot is a film completely devoid of focus. For a film named after a main character, I felt like Margot was one of the least developed characters in the film. Ronan's Margot is overshadowed by Pattinson, Harington, Taylor-Johnson and even Smit-McPhee in terms of performance and characterization. Director Chloe Zhao does add some nice visuals to Jack Slipter's messy script, but it doesn't really make up for the overly-complicated story and under-whelming characters." - George Overmyer, Baltimore Magazine

"Queen Margot is committed to telling a detailed, complicated epic about its titular character - with mostly impressive results. The script by Jack Slipter throws the audience right into the world without too much exposition. It takes a while to get comfortable, but this is easily career-best work from Slipter. The cast was maybe too big at times, but the primary characters were all engrossing." - Bobbie Gray-Smith, Sacramento Bee
